My background mirrors that of many in our community. I come from an immigrant family that sought the American dream for a better future. Born in Mexico in 1982, I arrived in the U.S. when I was four years old and have called Lynwood home since 1987. Growing up here, I attended local schools like Lindberg Elementary, Hosler Junior High, and Lynwood High School.
My journey after high school led me into the world of entrepreneurship, a path inspired by my father's successful mechanic and towing business. At the age of 19, I founded my own company, a venture that taught me invaluable skills in negotiation, delegation, finance, and budgeting. This experience, coupled with my role in growing my father's business into a successful enterprise employing over 15 people and operating nationwide, has prepared me for the challenges of the Lynwood Unified School Board.
As a father of three boys and a girl raised in Lynwood, I have always felt strongly connected to this community. Beyond my business success, I have been driven by a desire to give back. This led me to serve as a planning commissioner in 2013 and later as a Lynwood City Council member, including a term as Mayor in 2022. Now, I am eager to bring my experience and dedication to the Lynwood Unified School Board, where I can continue to serve our community.
Our students' safety is my number one priority. A clean and safe environment is crucial to enabling our students to flourish academically. I am dedicated to identifying and providing resources that ensure our children's safety and will allow them to focus on what is essential: their education. Together, we can make a difference in our children's future.
Keeping our community and parents informed about decisions that affect our children's education is crucial to our district's success. As a board, we must develop robust community and parent engagement programs that keep stakeholders informed and involved. I vow to expand our parent and community engagement programs to grow public participation and oversight.
Most of our schools were built over 60 years ago and have yet to make significant improvements in decades. We must upgrade and update our facilities to prepare our children for a new economic future. Investing in labs and technology to augment our science, technology, engineering, and math programs is critical for our students’ success.
Getting my message to voters takes a lot of resources and a team of committed supporters. Please help me spread my message to Lynwood Unified families, and let's give our students the future they deserve.
